Join us for three inspiring days celebrating the 20th anniversary of World Usability Day, themed “Emerging Technologies and the Human Experience.”

World Usability Day China will be held for the first time as part of the annual global celebration that takes place on the second Thursday of November. This year’s theme, Emerging Technologies & Human Experience, inspires us to highlight innovative projects and ideas that shape the future of usability and design.

We are honored to welcome Dr. Ted Selker, Marcelo Soares, and Danielle Cooley as our distinguished speakers. Together, we will travel to China to host this international World Usability Day program, bringing global insights and local impact.

Ted Selker ; Speaker, Panelist

Former MIT Media Lab Professor; Stanford Visiting Scholar
Leading expert in Human–Computer Interaction, intelligent interfaces, and context-aware computing; holds 75+ patents and has worked at IBM T.J. Watson and Xerox PARC.

Marcelo Soares ; Speaker, Panelist

Marcelo Soares is a professor in the Graduate Program in Design at the Federal University of Pernambuco and the Federal University of Maranhão, Brazil. He holds a Ph.D. from Loughborough University, UK. Prof. Soares served as president of the Brazilian Ergonomics Society for seven years. He has been a leader in ergonomics in Latin America and worldwide as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA). Prof. Marcelo Soares received the 2023 Fellow award from the International Ergonomics Association (IEA). 

Danielle Cooley ; Speaker, Panelist

Danielle has over two decades of experience applying her strategic research & design expertise to a wide variety of products, including hardware, medical devices, Windows, web, telephone, and mobile. Her work has benefited such organizations as Pfizer, Mastercard International, Fidelity Investments, Hyundai, Graco, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, and more.

She has a BE in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and a MS in Human Factors in Information Design from Bentley University. She has run her own bespoke strategic research consulting practice since 2009. You can find her at DGCooley.com.

Fang Ding ; Organizer & Developer

Fang Ding is a strategic UX and design leader bridging Asian and American design ecosystems. As founder of DFDraw Lab and China representative for World Usability Day, she has led cross-cultural initiatives integrating UX research, visual communication, and product strategy for global clients. She has authored 31 design publications and led the design and launch of digital platforms, brands, and visual art projects reaching millions of users. Ms. Fang has received 33 internationally recognized design awards.
