Usability Events

We are looking forward to the 2020 Arizona World Usability Day event. We have held a local event in Arizona every year since the inception of World Usability Day.

This year’s event will be remote.

In order to celebrate World Usability Day we have used this years theme – Human-Centred AI.

Over the last two decades computers have enhanced human’s abilities to perform our work, ensure our safety, and even lighten our workload. Interest continues to increase in AI’s capabilities to improve human performance. However, there is an accompanying fear that humans will lose control of the technology they create.

During the day we will explore the past and the present of AI. How is it being used? How could, and maybe should, we use it? Where do we see the strongest potential within UX and design. For example, how is the music industry using AI? Within the field of art, are there new ways to be creative? We will also talk about bias within AI, not just the technology but also in the perspective of where it comes from and whom is working with it.

Join us at STHLM Xperience Conference and together we will discuss Human-Centered AI while learning from each other how to use it in the right way. It is a participatory conference with lectures, practical tips, and workshops. Speakers on stage are experts in their field.

On thursday, 12th of November, WUD Leipzig will take place for the fourth time.

Since a couple of weeks we’re busy preparing and setting up everything. Despite the coronavirus pandemic we want to conduct this event with all the guests from past years – and maybe some additional ones. So we’re searching for ways to have this Event take place no matter the situation – in case of doubt we’ll have it be a remote conference!

The format is hybrid: a remote event combined with a small group on site in Munich, including some the organizers, presenters and a small amount of on-site guests as far as safety conditions can be ensured.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a trend topic. A buzzword that is commonly used for the replication and automation of intelligent behavior. Machines controlled by algorithms are often in direct competition with humans.

AI is a challenge for the user experience when it simulates decision structures based on pattern recognition.

There is probably hardly any other topic that is discussed so controversially and interdisciplinary.

Join the UX Research and Strategy group virtually as Carol Smith and Amanda Dorsey present talks on Human Centered AI work.

Carol Smith is a Senior Research Scientist at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute.

Amanda Dorsey is a Director of Product Management at Capital One

2020 is the year of Artificial Intelligence, in the global challenge and for Turin even more.
Italian Government recently appointed the city of Turin as the seat of the Italian Institute for Artificial Intelligence (I3A), which will be the heart of a national and international network for research and production activities.

This year interested visitors have the opportunity to get impressions of new interaction concepts at the chair for Human-Computer-Interaction at the University of Bamberg in the context of the World Usability Day. Among other things, there will be the opportunity to discover the eye tracker of the chair.

For the second year, OutSystems will host the World Usability Day 2020! In 2020, we’re calling all UX/UI Designers, Product Designers, Product Managers and other creatives to join a 2h Zoom conversation about Cognitive Design and UX Metrics.
