What is Human-Centered Design?

Human-centered Design (HCD) is all about engagement with real people. Technology, products and services are usable when they engage people. How can we engage with the real people that use our technology products and services? What kind of design thinking needs to be incorporated into our Software Development Lifecycle? Can we engage with the real people that use our systems to help us make changes to those things that are not working well?
