This year’s World Usability theme is sustainable (or green) user experience. Sustainable UX challenges us to go further - to constantly search for ways to make the products, services, and experiences we design more effective, efficient, and environmentally responsible. Whether the goal is improving access to education, affordable housing, healthy food, or social justice, we can be inspired by new forms of design thinking that make human services available and meaningful to everyone.
Our discussion for World Usability Day is about developing a sustainable, outcomes-based framework for social impact. We'll examine real-world case studies of how frugal innovation enhances lives by removing economic, physical, and logistical barriers that separate people of all abilities and backgrounds from the things they fundamentally need. We'll review examples of how sustainable UX can be applied to design contexts in our daily work.
Our discussion will be led by Kel Smith. Mr Smith is a designer, author and instructor in all things related to technology and behavior. His passion about the human experience and finding ways to make it better for everyone makes him a perfect fit to guide us through this year’s World Usability Day topic.
