World Usability Day 2015 was a huge success. Thank you to all our volunteers.
World Usability Day is single day of events occurring around the world that brings together communities of professional, industrial, educational, citizen, and government groups for our common objective: to ensure that the services and products important to life are easier to access and simpler to use. It is about celebration and education – celebrating the strides we have made in creating usable products and educating the masses about how usability impacts our daily lives. It is about making our world work better. It is about reaching out to the common citizen and spreading the message: We don’t have to put up with products and services that don’t work well and that human error is a misnomer
We have just started planning World Usability Day 2016 which will be held on November 10, 2016.
2015 is the Ten Year Anniversary for World Usability Day.
During the last 10 years, on the second Thursay of November, over 25,000 people have been a part of our initiative to share the important message that people matter, that technology should help people improve and enjoy their lives. Over the years we have seen our resources grow and shrink and grow again, but through it all, it is the global network of approximately 10,000 volunteers that have kept our community growing
We are celebrating 10 years of sharing the message that the user experience is a key to making technology work better for people. Innovation also means revolution: 2016 is the year to grow our usability revolution by bringing our message to the general public:
No-one should have to suffer through products and services that get in their way. People should not be made to feel stupid by technology.
WUD 2015 Articles
The Smartest Clothes are the Most Usable Ones:
In high school, some students are quick to make a distinction between being book-smart and street-smart. The students that are book-smart are generally those who thrive academically – able to memorize endless math formulas or analyze passages of the most advanced literary works. Conversely, the kids with street smarts are able to approach real life problems, take a step back, and adapt to come up with the best solution to have them come out on top.
WUD on Earth:
Just as Earth Day celebrates and brings awareness to a better, more sustainable world, World Usability Day celebrates successful user experience, bringing awareness to holistic solutions to create a better world.
A usable product not only incorporates the end user but also the overarching product lifecycle, including what happens to a piece of technology when a person no longers uses it. Designing with the earth in mind creates a multifaceted client base. When a team designs a product, they should incorporate how the product can compliment, not harm our planet earth. Sustainablity should be a key element of a successful user experience.
